Good Morning Britain Presenters Face Viewer Backlash Over On-Air Behaviour

Frustrated viewers of ITV's flagship morning programme Good Morning Britain have launched a social media campaign criticising the presenting style of Ranvir Singh and Kate Garraway, with many describing their habits as "ruinous" to the show's quality.

Interruption Complaints Dominate Viewer Feedback

Taking to platforms including X, formerly known as Twitter, numerous audience members expressed particular frustration with what they perceive as constant interruptions during Friday's edition of the programme. Multiple viewers singled out Ranvir Singh, 48, for allegedly talking over her co-presenter Kate Garraway, 58, and interrupting guests during interviews.

One viewer posted: "Ranvir & Kate are useless, get them off and some decent presenters!!!!!!!" while another commented: "First time I've tuned in to your programme in a long time and all that woman who is presenting with Kate does, is interrupt and talk over people when they're making their point!"

Chemistry Concerns and Specific Criticisms

The criticism extended beyond simple interruption complaints, with some viewers questioning the on-screen chemistry between the two presenters. One social media user wrote: "This was ruined for me because Kate Garraway had once again some interesting points mirroring mine but Ranvir keeps talking over her and also talks so loud poor Kate gets talked over. This chemistry isn't working."

Other specific complaints included: "It's screaming Friday all shouting and interrupting from me me Kate and me me Ranvir," and "Ranvir instead of stating the obvious that you're dumb just let him explain." One particularly harsh comment stated: "Wow, Ranvir being extremely snarky to that guest just because she is too stupid to grasp what he is saying..."

Experienced Presenters with Long Careers

Both presenters bring substantial experience to the programme. Kate Garraway has been a fixture of morning television for years, having previously presented GMTV for an impressive ten-year period before joining Good Morning Britain in April 2014. Ranvir Singh joined the show the following month in May 2014, having made her morning television debut on Daybreak in 2012.

Despite their combined decades of broadcasting experience, viewers have expressed disappointment that the pair haven't developed smoother on-air dynamics, particularly when interviewing guests.

Previous Controversy Involving Programme Spoilers

This is not the first time recently that Garraway and Singh have faced viewer criticism. Earlier this month, the presenting duo were accused of spoiling the ending of Channel 4's controversial new gameshow Handcuffed without providing adequate warning to viewers.

The competition programme, which tasked pairings from diverse backgrounds with remaining handcuffed together to win a £100,000 prize, had its finale result discussed on Good Morning Britain, complete with a clip showing the winners. This prompted an angry response from viewers who hadn't yet watched the conclusion.

One viewer posted: "Thanks @GMB for giving the result of Handcuffed at the top of the show with no warning!" while another wrote: "Don't appreciate the spoiler, GMB. I haven't caught up yet." A third commented: "That needed to have a spoiler alert GMB I have not watched the whole show yet and well didn't expect to see that clip then! That's annoyed me."

Good Morning Britain continues to air weekdays on ITV1 from 6am and is available for streaming on the ITVX platform, though these recent viewer complaints suggest some audience members are growing increasingly frustrated with certain aspects of the programme's presentation style.
