Fans of the BBC sitcom Ghosts are convinced the show is set to return after cast members shared a mysterious video on social media. The programme, which aired five series between 2019 and 2023, followed a group of ghosts from different historical eras haunting a country estate alongside its new living occupants.
Matthew Baynton, who played Thomas Thorne, posted a short clip of the show's iconic wooden front door swinging open on its own, without any caption. The post quickly sparked speculation among viewers, with one commenting: "Ohmagaaad what's going on!" and another asking: "Are we getting to return to Button House?"
Co-stars Jim Howick and Martha Howe-Douglas also shared the same door video on their Instagram accounts, further fuelling rumours. The show concluded with a Christmas special in 2023, but an Australian adaptation was greenlit last year and began broadcasting in November.
While fans are eager for a UK revival, no official announcement has been made. Kylie Washington, Creative Director for the BBC in Australia, previously said of the adaptation: "We're excited to bring Ghosts to life with a unique cast of characters that reflect our very own history and culture."
