Gemma Arterton has announced the birth of her second child, having kept her pregnancy hidden from the public throughout last year. The 40-year-old actor, who stars in the upcoming ITV drama Secret Service, made the revelation on the Dish podcast with Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett.
During the podcast, Arterton said: 'I'm happy to be let out for the day. I've got two kids now and it's just hard.' She confirmed her eldest is three years old and the new baby is 'five-and-a-half months', indicating the child was born at the end of 2025. She added: 'I'm really well. I've just had another kid, and so I'm in the thick of that. But it's all lovely.'
The actor, who is married to Rory Keenan, previously kept her first pregnancy secret until shortly before giving birth in December 2022. She has not disclosed the gender of her second child, and her publicist declined to comment.
Arterton also discussed her role in Secret Service, playing MI6 officer Kate Henderson. She described the character as 'a maverick' and 'youngest head of the Russia desk', noting that the show explores the real world of intelligence work. 'Sometimes you watch spy shows and they're kind of like unattainable people. But these people that work for the Secret Service are real people that are living amongst us,' she said.
The actor, who trained at RADA, admitted she misses being on stage and would 'love' to return to theatre. Secret Service begins on ITV and ITVX on Monday 27 April.
