Denise Welch, known for Loose Women and Waterloo Road, plays the role of Sharon in the series. The café's name was changed to fit the plot, and staff shared their excitement on Instagram, posting photos of Welch on set. They wrote: 'Safe to say the café has had its biggest makeover yet! We were honoured to be picked from hundreds of local cafés as the filming location for a brand new series coming soon.'

Production Details

The series is produced by Gateshead-based production company Candle & Bell. Filming took place over the weekend, with the crew transforming the deli into a sandwich shop. The café's team added: 'A huge thank you to the amazing team. It was an absolute pleasure to meet Denise Welch, who’s one of our own. From La Cucina to Sarnies… moments like this make all the hard work worth it.'

North East Filming Boom

The North East has seen a surge in TV and film production recently. BBC detective drama The Northumbria Mysteries, starring Robson Green, has been filming in Morpeth, Alnwick, Seahouses, and Rothbury. Meanwhile, Denise Welch also filmed Channel 5 drama Forever Home in Hexham earlier this year.
