Hulu has announced that all ten episodes of 'Futurama' Season 13 will premiere simultaneously on September 15 at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET, marking a shift from the weekly release format used for the previous two revival seasons. The streaming service confirmed the binge release exclusively to Variety, alongside first-look photos from the upcoming season.
The new season will also air on linear cable channel FXX starting September 15 at 8 p.m. ET, with two episodes airing weekly for viewers who prefer a traditional release schedule. 'Futurama' originally aired on Fox from 1999 to 2003, followed by direct-to-DVD specials and a Comedy Central revival from 2010 to 2013. The Hulu revival began in July 2023.
According to Nielsen, 'Futurama' ranked among the top ten streaming originals of 2024. Hulu renewed the series for two additional seasons in November 2023, extending it through Season 14 in 2026. The show's season numbering has caused confusion due to past DVD releases and Comedy Central's split seasons.
The Season 13 synopsis teases: 'Bender is rampaging out of control! A volcano is about to explode! Fry confronts a rival for Leela’s love! And Dr. Zoidberg is rising up to heaven?! The excitement might be too much! You’ve been warned… it’s an all new season of “Futurama”!'
Produced by 20th Television Animation, the series features voice actors John DiMaggio, Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, and David Herman. Created by Matt Groening and developed with David X. Cohen, executive producers include Groening, Cohen, Ken Keeler, and Claudia Katz. Animation is handled by Rough Draft Studios. 'Futurama' has won two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program.
