Frazer Hines, known for his role as Joe Sugden in Emmerdale, is set to appear in the fifth series of The Madame Blanc Mysteries on Channel 5. The show, starring Sally Lindsay, returns with seven new episodes, including a Christmas special, beginning Thursday, October 29.
Star-Studded Guest Line-Up
Acorn TV announced a "dazzling line-up of familiar faces" heading to Sainte Victoire. Joining the series are Justin Moorhouse, Brian Capron, Michael Fenton Stevens, Su Pollard, Louisa Lytton, Bonnie Langford, and Zoe Lyons. Frazer Hines, whose Emmerdale character left in 1994 and was later killed off-screen, is among the new cast members.
Returning cast includes Steve Edge as Dom Hayes, Sue Vincent as Gloria Beaushaw, Robin Askwith and Sue Holderness as Jeremy and Judith Lloyd James, and Alex Gaumond as Chief of Police André Caron.
Series Five Storyline
The synopsis reveals Jean and Dom plan their wedding, facing obstacles. A dead body is found in an iconic location, Uncle Patrick hosts a pub quiz, Judith and Jeremy face a dilemma, and someone is found foaming at the mouth at St Victoire Theatre. The series will also feature the "full, fabulous wrath of John Marsden" and questions whether Jean and Dom will marry.
Sally Lindsay commented: "Yet again Ste. Victoire has attracted some absolute stellar stars who have all been absolutely fantastic. We are so thrilled with this series and love that the world of Madame Blanc gets bigger and better every year."
Fans have celebrated the announcement on social media, with one saying: "Excellent! Can't wait! ! I've just watched all 4 seasons again... it's my go-to comfort show!" Another posted: "Best News, love this show, all the characters are easy to love and laugh along with, long may it continue."
Return of the Show
The crime drama first launched in 2021 and has aired four series plus earlier festive episodes. Sally discussed the writing process with co-writer Sue Vincent, saying: "We've got ideas from seeing things, we send each other recipe sheets of stories and antiques we've seen... so we keep that over the year, constantly, it never stops."
She added: "I never feel that the world ever dies, I don't feel it's running out of legs or anything, I've never felt that once, I've always thought, we could go if we want. It's very much alive in our heads and in our actors, the minute we all get together, it's magic." Series 5 starts Thursday, October 29 at 9.05pm on Channel 5.
