Frank Lampard lands Coventry job and World Cup Netflix show

Frank Lampard has secured a new role this summer ahead of the World Cup, as the Coventry City manager joins The Rest Is Football Podcast on Netflix as a special guest for the upcoming tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The Sky Blues boss will feature on the show, which airs daily from 6am starting June 10.

Lampard's New Netflix Role

Lampard will join Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, Micah Richards, and regular guest Joe Cole to discuss the tournament and major football stories. The former Chelsea midfielder is among several special guests, including Harry Maguire, Millie Bright, Patrick Vieira, Romesh Ranganathan, and Niall Horan. The show will be filmed in Times Square, New York, offering expert match analysis, exclusive interviews, and behind-the-scenes footage from the World Cup.

From Pundit to Manager

After retiring from football, Lampard worked regularly as a TV pundit, providing expert analysis. However, his managerial role at Coventry has limited his TV appearances until this summer. Lampard has excelled at the CBS Arena, guiding Coventry back to the Premier League as Championship winners. His success has made him a contender for vacant Premier League jobs, including Crystal Palace and Fulham.

Coventry chief Doug King expressed his desire to keep Lampard, stating, "He's done a fantastic job... to get out of this league as champions without a parachute payment is a huge achievement." Lampard will reunite with Lineker, Shearer, and Richards, having previously worked with them at the BBC and Amazon.

Excitement for the Show

Co-host Alan Shearer said, "The World Cup is as big as it gets, and bringing The Rest Is Football to Netflix during the tournament is a brilliant opportunity." Micah Richards added, "I'm absolutely buzzing for this. World Cup, Netflix, New York... it's going to have everything people love about the show."
