Tributes have been paid to Scots footballer Michael Cruickshank, who died on Thursday following a road accident. The 34-year-old full back passed away and leaves behind his mum Heather, sister Hollie and partner Ashley.
Career across Scottish clubs
Cruickshank began his football career with Brechin Boys Club before joining local amateur sides Montrose Roslea and Luthermuir. He moved up to junior level with Carnoustie Panmure in 2018 and, after a successful spell, joined semi-professional outfit Brechin City in 2021.
He won the Highland League with Brechin City in the 2022/23 season and played in the club's SPFL pyramid promotion play-offs against The Spartans. He signed for Broughty Athletic in 2024 and remained an important part of their squad until his death.

A Carnoustie Panmure spokesperson said: "Those who had the pleasure of sharing a dressing room with him will remember not only what a talented footballer he was, but more importantly, what a genuinely lovely, funny and great guy he was to have around."
