Celebrity Traitors viewers are convinced one player is 'doomed' after a major slip-up in last night's semi-final. This season has been packed with history-making moments and the penultimate episode was no different as James Acaster sensationally revealed his identity as a Traitor during the roundtable vote.
He had been backed into a corner by actor Michael Sheen, who correctly guessed that the Traitors were among the people in the library when Ross Kemp was murdered in plain sight. He finally narrowed his theory down to Traitors Maya Jama and James. But James couldn't stomach lying to his co-stars any longer and decided to confess that he was recruited by the villains, shortly after starting the game as a Faithful.
James Acaster's confession
He said: "I just want to explain my situation. I was made a Traitor without wanting to be. I've had a unique experience on this that no one has had before." But he went on to reveal a potential clue that viewers claim has "ruined the whole game".
James told the Faithfuls: "I am so proud of you guys for catching me the way that you did, and I wanted it to be that I was found logically and in a way [where] you followed clues and got me." BBC viewers think this comment confirmed to the other players that Michael is indeed a Faithful and sealed Maya's fate.
Maya Jama's argument
Just minutes before James' confession, Maya had been trying to debunk the theory that Traitors were definitely in the library on the night Ross was killed. She was trying to dodge suspicion about her involvement in Ross's elimination but fans think her argument at the roundtable will only make the other players suspicious.
Taking to social media, one fan said: "maya is doomed," while a second added: "maya definitely can't win now. michael was onto her at the round table (and i suspect if james A hadn't confessed, michael could have gotten everyone to vote for her). if she kills michael, it comes back to her. if she kills someone else, everyone is going to banish her."
Fans react
Another person noted: "If they get rid of Michael it's obvious it's Maya and if they keep him Maya's gone regardless." While others suggested that the only way the Traitors can win the series is through betrayal.
"I still think Kenny could win, but he'll have to throw Maya under the bus," said one person. But some viewers have rushed to defend James' gameplan, arguing that he bought Maya more time in the game.
Someone posted: "I don't think James Acaster ruined Maya's game tbh. If James hadn't confessed, the faithfuls were going to banished either him or Maya anyway. #CelebrityTraitors."
The Celebrity Traitors season two finale airs tonight at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
