The psychological thriller The Teacher has been hailed as 'a great watch' by fans, but viewers are now demanding a fourth season after the third series concluded. All three seasons are available to stream for free on Channel 5.
What Is 'The Teacher' About?
The show follows a different educator each season whose life descends into chaos due to scandals, classroom politics, or tragic events. It quickly became a hit thanks to its impressive cast and gripping storylines.
Season one, which aired in 2022, focused on Jenna Garvey, played by Sheridan Smith, an emotionally troubled English teacher accused of having a drunken sexual encounter with a student. Due to memory loss, she cannot remember the night in question.
Season Two and Three Highlights
Season two, originally aired in 2024, follows Dani, played by EastEnders star Kara Tointon, an art teacher whose secret affair with a colleague ends in tragedy when a student goes missing during a school trip.
More than a year later, the show made its highly-anticipated return for a third season with The Crown's Victoria Hamilton taking on the lead. She plays Helen Simpson, a teacher with over three decades of classroom experience who 'dismisses the woke ideologies of the younger generation'. She faces a conflict with student Cressida Bancroft, played by Alice Grant.
According to the official synopsis: 'Influential female student Cressida Bancroft dislikes Helen for accusing her of being a woke warrior to gain popularity. After this clash of ideals, Cressida sets out to turn the world against Helen, before focussing her attention on Helen’s family. Including her son Sam.
