Christmas is a dramatic time for soap fans, with Emmerdale, EastEnders and Coronation Street all airing huge episodes over the festive period. This year, ITV's soaps have hour-long specials, while BBC's EastEnders has a 45-minute episode. Corrie is said to be more joyous, but a big secret threatens the peace.
In Emmerdale, an explosion rips through The Woolpack pub, with a trailer teasing a possible death. Killer Meena Jutla is on the loose, targeting her sister Manpreet Sharma after Manpreet discovers Meena is a murderer. Meanwhile, Will Taylor proposes to Kim Tate, and Dawn gets a proposal of her own.
Coronation Street sees Emma broken-hearted after her wedding disaster with Curtis Delamere, whose lies about his health were exposed. Fiz Brown is caught between new partner Phil and ex Tyrone in a hilarious showdown. Abi Franklin and Imran Habeeb's secret fling is also at risk of exposure.
In EastEnders, a double wedding leads to a deadly bombshell. Whitney Dean believes she has evidence to expose Gray Atkins for murdering his wife Chantelle, and possibly Tina Carter and Kush Kazemi. Chelsea Fox is horrified to learn Gray may be a killer. Jack Branning and Denise Fox also plan to wed, but drama over her son Raymond threatens their day.
Other storylines include Dotty Cotton and Rocky's secret scheme to fleece Sonia Fowler, Kim Fox's possible exit, Stuart hiding his cancer, and Janine Butcher plotting to seduce Mick Carter. Emmerdale airs at 7pm on ITV on Christmas Day, followed by Corrie at 8pm. EastEnders airs at 9:35pm on BBC One.
