Amazon Prime has confirmed a second season of its addictive teen romance series 'Every Year After', adapted from Carley Fortune's BookTok sensation 'Every Summer After'. The show, which has been a permanent fixture in the platform's top 10 ranking since its release, will continue with a storyline based on Fortune's sequel 'One Golden Summer'.
Season 2 Focus Shifts to Charlie Florek
The sophomore season will center on Charlie Florek, played by Michael Bradway, whose love story was teased in the season one finale. The first season, consisting of eight episodes, followed Percy Fraser (Sadie Soverall) and Sam Florek (Matt Cornett) as first loves whose romance ebbs and flows over six summers lakeside in Barry's Bay, Canada. Concurrently, the story picks up a decade later, with Percy working as an obituary writer and returning to Barry's Bay for a memorial service, where she avoids her ex Sam, now a doctor.
Critical and Fan Reception
The series has earned a 73 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics drawing comparisons to 'The Summer I Turned Pretty'. Fans have taken to social media to express their emotional reactions. Saher wrote on X: 'Hey so I’m already in tears and I’m only 3 mins in.' Shelby tweeted: 'I hope everyone has the best time in Barry’s Bay. Every Year After swept me off my feet and made me fall head over heels in love with these characters.' Another fan, @kingofevrythlng, posted: 'Skipping gym tonight to binge. Let’s go!!'
