Evan Peters Learns French and Italian for Ryan Murphy's The Beauty

Evan Peters has returned to television in Ryan Murphy's new body horror series, The Beauty, now streaming on Disney+. The 39-year-old actor, best known for American Horror Story, plays FBI Agent Cooper Madsen, who investigates the mysterious deaths of supermodels linked to a sexually transmitted virus that transforms people into their most attractive selves, with horrifying consequences.

The series, based on the comic by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley, sees Peters' character travel across the US and Europe, including France and Italy. To portray the role authentically, Peters learned French and Italian, delivering lengthy dialogue in both languages in the first three episodes. Co-star Anthony Ramos joked that Peters 'speaks like 18 languages in the show.'

Speaking at New York Comic Con in October 2025, Peters shared his language learning techniques. 'I enjoyed it. It was fun and I had some great tutors,' he said, mentioning the online app Babble as one of his resources. He added, 'It was really working with the tutors. Starting with the basics of the language and then the pronunciation. They're so different. So, just starting with the basics, and then looking at the script and translating.'
