In a heartwarming turn of events, Emmerdale fans have been sent into a frenzy with the confirmation that beloved couple Aaron Dingle and Robert Sugden are set to tie the knot once more. The joyful news emerged from the wreckage of the soap's explosive Corriedale crossover event, which aired on ITV.
From Chaos to Commitment: The Corriedale Aftermath
The decision for a third wedding came after a period of immense turmoil for the pair, known to fans as 'Robron'. Following months of drama involving villainous husbands, a prison release, and several near-death experiences, the catastrophic Corriedale crash proved to be a final catalyst. Aaron was injured in the collision after being driven off the road by the killer husband, John Sugden.
Robert, aided by Joe Tate, desperately raced to the scene to find his soulmate. Upon discovering an injured Aaron, a heartfelt conversation ensued, which eventually turned to the subject of marriage. What began as tentative joking soon transformed into a serious and mutual realisation that they did not want to waste any more time apart.
A 'Fitting' Proposal Amid the Drama
With neither entirely sure if the other was being serious at first, they quickly reached an agreement to try again. Sealing their pact with a kiss, the moment thrilled viewers. As Robert pointed out the lack of a formal proposal, Aaron suggested it was his turn, leading to a poignant exchange.
"Why not?" Aaron told him, declaring his love and acknowledging Robert's feelings in return. He joked that the crash site was the most romantic place they would find, with Robert calling it "fitting" as they vowed to "do it properly this time."
What's Next for Robron?
This will mark the third wedding for the fan-favourite couple, who first officially married on screen in 2018. Actors Danny Miller (Aaron) and Ryan Hawley (Robert) have teased that the aftermath of Corriedale will have significant consequences for their characters.
Speaking to The Mirror, Danny Miller hinted at the drama to come: "There's lots of twists and turns along the way... The consequences of what happens in this, they will have to sort it out between them." He added that the pair would be forced to work together and "lie their way out of stuff," with Aaron exasperatedly saying "oh Robert," while Robert insists, "I'll sort this."
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
