Emmerdale star Lawrence Robb has announced a new project away from the ITV soap opera. The actor, 32, who plays Mackenzie Boyd, has shared his 'crazy' decision to take part in the London Marathon later this year. He will be raising money for the charity Samaritans, which provides support to those in emotional distress or at risk of suicide.
Lawrence announced his participation in the April marathon via an Instagram video, where he was seen holding his dog. He said: 'I have decided to run the London marathon because I'm crazy. I'm running because it's a wonderful cause. I'm trying to raise as much money as possible to make people realise that they're not alone.'
Fans have shared well-wishes, but there has also been concern for his future on Emmerdale. One viewer wrote: 'Good luck!! Don't you dare [go] leaving us [on] Emmerdale! Please!!!' Another echoed: 'Good luck. Hope you raise loads of money. Pleeeeaaaasssee don't leave Emmerdale.'
This comes after Lawrence previously thought he was leaving the show. He told the Daily Star that when he heard Charity would stab his character, he started to worry about his job. 'The producers pitched it as though I was going to leave the show. They told me that Charity stabs Mackenzie and I was like I need to start looking for another job then!'
Mackenzie didn't die, and Lawrence, who has been on the show since 2020, was excited to film the dramatic scenes. He said: 'I was actually excited about having that because I've been on the show for a little while now and I've not got the chance to do this. They pitched it as I was going to flatline at the end of one episode and everyone was going to be left wondering if I was going to die.'
