A new Emmerdale trailer confirms a police drama as struggling Charity Dingle disappears. Charity (Emma Atkins) continues to struggle following her sexual assault ordeal by the sinister Dr Todd (Caroline Harker). Next week, she gets in her car and drives out of the village, leaving her loved ones incredibly concerned.
Charity's Recent Ordeals
The much-loved show matriarch has had a very tough time lately. After agreeing to be a surrogate for Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill), Charity was shocked to learn the baby was actually her own, after she cheated on husband Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) with ex Ross Barton (Michael Parr). To avoid breaking Sarah's heart, she kept the paternity a secret and, after a traumatic birth, handed the newborn over to Sarah and Jacob Sugden (Joe-Warren Plant).
Dr Todd, who had been bullying Jacob, discovered the baby's true paternity and blackmailed Charity for thousands of pounds. Earlier this month, the story took another devastating turn when Todd sexually assaulted Charity. She reported the crime but it didn't go anywhere. After Todd left the village, Charity continued to struggle, leaving Mack worried.
Family Fears Postnatal Depression
Her loved ones believe she has postnatal depression, and Charity didn't argue, feeling alone and isolated. She cannot talk about what she's going through in case the truth about baby Leyla is revealed.
Next Week's Escalation
The situation escalates next week, as confirmed in a brand new trailer, with Charity getting in her car and driving off, leaving her loved ones panicked. In the preview clip, Mack says he will contact the police while Charity screams in her car, devastated.
A Mysterious Stranger
New spoilers confirm that while standing by the lake, Charity is approached by a stranger who puts a hand on her shoulder, seeing her distress. Charity retaliates with violence, but the stranger offers support. Will Charity open up about what she's going through?
