Emmerdale couple Charity Dingle and Mackenzie Boyd are set to face a devastating loss next week when Charity suffers an ectopic pregnancy. The tragic storyline will see the pair grappling with the heartbreaking reality that their baby is not viable.
In upcoming scenes, Mackenzie is seen settling into a new attentive role, touched by his sister Moira Barton's words about him being a great dad. However, at Jacobs Fold, Charity is suddenly hit with a wave of pain and fears something is wrong with the baby. Moments later, Mackenzie finds a broken Charity struggling on the floor and rushes her to hospital.
At the hospital, the couple tries to hide their fear from one another as a doctor takes them to the Early Pregnancy Unit. After an anxious wait, the doctor confirms that Charity's pregnancy is ectopic and therefore not viable. In heartbreaking scenes, the couple hears the heartbeat of the baby they are destined to lose.
Emotionally drained, Charity steels herself for what must be done. Although grateful for Mackenzie's support, it becomes clear that he is not as okay as he appears. Charity makes it clear she is dealing with the loss by moving on with normal life, which may impact their relationship.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
