Emmerdale star Samantha Giles has teased an explosive autumn storyline involving Gabby Thomas's return and Emma Barton's downfall. The actress, who plays Bernice, Gabby's mother, appeared on Lorraine to discuss the upcoming plot twists.
Giles revealed that Gabby's return sets off a chain of events, including revelations about Arthur and the memory card, and Emma's dark secrets. Host Lorraine Kelly questioned whether Emma would face her comeuppance for murdering her husband James last year.
“I think she should get her comeuppance,” Giles said carefully. “I think characters like that do eventually.” Emma has been struggling to keep her secret, even manipulating dementia sufferer Ashley Thomas and his son to stay quiet.
Emmerdale boss Iain McLeod described the upcoming storyline as “intense” and “more intimate” than last year's action-packed spectacle. He promised “surprises galore” but noted that the drama would focus on a smaller group of characters rather than large stunts.
