Coronation Street actor Bill Fellows, who plays Stu Carpenter, is leaving the show after three years, Metro can confirm. The star has already filmed his final scenes, which are set to air in October.
Metro.co.uk understands that Fellows signed a three-year contract and decided early on that this was the duration he wanted. The exact details of Stu's departure from Weatherfield remain under wraps, though it may be linked to the return of Mason Radcliffe, played by Luca Toolan.
Stu has recently shown sympathy towards Mason, who bullied Liam Connor last year, offering him food and a job at Speed Daal. This has made him unpopular with several residents. Over his three years, Stu has been involved in key storylines, including his introduction when Kelly Neelan found him living on the streets. They formed a friendship, and later a twist revealed that Stu had been jailed for murder, but it was actually his daughter Bridget who killed his lover Charlie.
After Bridget went to prison, Stu's reputation was cleared, and he moved in with granddaughter Eliza and Yasmeen Metcalfe. Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITVX.
