Kim Tate (Claire King) has avoided prison in Emmerdale after the truth about DS Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge) was finally exposed. Thea, it emerged, is the daughter Kim gave up for adoption at birth, a revelation that came shortly after the two fought and Kim stabbed her during the apparent kidnapping of baby Tate.
Today, Kim confessed the truth to Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough), her sometimes-husband and sometimes-enemy, as she struggled with her feelings and the revelation that Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) was the kidnapper who took the baby, leaving her and Graham panicked.
Thea's Dilemma and Kim's Disappearance
At the hospital, Thea considered what to tell the police. Her best friend Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) encouraged her to tell the truth, but Thea later found she couldn't, convinced she had seen a human side to Kim she hadn't thought existed. Thea summoned Kim to the hospital, but when Kim arrived, she had discharged herself and was nowhere to be found.
The scene contrasted with the evolving relationship between Joe and his newly named son, William Tate. After spending the night sleeping at Dawn Taylor's (Olivia Bromley) grave, Joe was found by Ross Barton (Michael Parr), the first person to get through the walls Joe had built since Dawn's death. Ross related Joe's loss to his own, and for the first time, Joe's humanity surfaced. Later, he held his baby and pledged to love and care for him, finally giving him a name.
Sadie's Manipulation Escalates
Insidious Sadie King (Patsy Kensit) continued her campaign against Caleb and Ruby Miligan (William Ash and Beth Cordingly), planting the idea in Ruby's head that Caleb is a controlling monster, then suggesting to Caleb that she believes Ruby is an alcoholic. Ruby's trip to the pub saw her cross paths with Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy), clumsily asking for advice about alcoholism. Laurel said she couldn't offer that advice and that it was down to Ruby to decide whether alcohol had become a problem. Ruby later broke down to Caleb and swore to go completely sober.
Across the village, Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) tried to bring sister Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) back to the village but was met with a refusal, while Laurel attempted to soothe Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham), who has been cast out of the Tate clan's inner circle.
What Happens Next
Monday's visit to the Dales sees Sadie determined to get results in her plan to destroy the Miligans. She begins by spiking Ruby's mocktails with alcohol and watches as Ruby gets increasingly intoxicated. Using Ross as a weapon, Sadie flirts with him and talks him into a dance, then steps away and swaps Ruby in, leading Caleb to arrive at the Woolpack just in time to see his drunk wife collapse on top of Ross.
Back at home, Sadie leads Caleb to believe Ruby went home with Ross, and having finally broken him, she manages to get him into bed. Elsewhere, Robert sets his sights on poaching Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) from the Woolpack, offering him full creative freedom in the kitchen of his new business.
