Kim Tate (Claire King) faced two major revelations in Thursday's Emmerdale after rushing Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge) to hospital. Thea was in a worrying condition after being stabbed by Kim during a struggle over Baby Tate, with both women believing the other was responsible for his kidnapping.
Gabby's confession
At the hospital, Kim received her first shock when Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) arrived looking for her, having found blood at Home Farm. As Kim explained what had happened, she was stunned when Gabby admitted to playing a role in Baby Tate's kidnapping after being pulled into Joe Tate's (Ned Porteous) scheme. Gabby apologised profusely, insisting she had been misled about the situation.
Thea's secret revealed
This was only minor compared to the next secret Kim uncovered. Still suspicious of Thea's intentions, Kim sneaked into her hospital room and dug out her ID. Looking at Thea's full name and birthday made everything fall into place for Kim, as she remembered the baby she had given up in the late 90s.
When Thea woke up, Kim confronted her about keeping her true identity a secret and managed to clear up some misconceptions about her adoption. Thea believed that Kim had sold her as a baby, but Kim explained that it wasn't as simple as that. She revealed that if she hadn't agreed to give Thea away to a corrupt superintendent, she would have ended up in prison and Thea and Jamie Tate would have been put into the care system.
Moving forward
Kim explained that she thought she was doing the right thing, giving Thea away to a family who could give her a happy childhood. But Thea revealed that things didn't work out that way, as her mum died and it became clear that her dad had never wanted her.
Now that the truth about Baby Tate's kidnapping and Thea's identity is out in the open, it remains to be seen whether the Tates can move forward or if Thea's vendetta against Kim will continue.
