Emmerdale's Kev Barton (Chris Coghill) is showing a softer side as he supports Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) following the death of her husband Jimmy King (Nick Miles). Once enemies, the two are growing closer as Kev steps in to help Nicola through her grief.
In the latest episode, Nicola became overwhelmed while working in the café, throwing everyone out and locking herself inside. When Kev discovered what was happening, he knocked on the door and encouraged her to let him in. Nicola burst into tears and fell into Kev's arms, deeply missing Jimmy and struggling to cope on her own.
A Quiet Home and Sleepless Nights
At the Anderson household, Kev learned that Nicola was struggling to sleep because of how quiet her home is at night. Nicola revealed that Jimmy used to snore all the time and, while it annoyed her at first, she eventually got used to it. As irritating as the snoring was, Nicola missed hearing it.
Kev suggested that Nicola spend the night in his bed, pointing out that a change of scenery might help her brain. Touched by his kindness, Nicola headed upstairs, but appeared a while later to tell Kev that she couldn't switch her mind off.
A Growing Connection
When Nicola entered the living room, she found Kev on the sofa snoring. She smiled, and then laid on the floor beside him. For two people who might seem like an unlikely match on paper, there's something rather lovely about Nicola and Kev's growing connection. They seem increasingly comfortable in each other's company, and there's a natural ease between them that's hard to ignore.
If Nicola is happy lying on the floor beside Kev while he snores away, perhaps there's more to this pairing than either of them expected.
