Emmerdale is set to be rocked by a kidnapping as Baby Tate goes missing. As fans of the ITV soap will know, Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) had decided to give his unnamed baby son up for adoption, following the death of his fiancée, Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley), and had enlisted the help of his childhood guardian Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) in setting it up.
Graham and Kim's Secret
Graham and his ex-wife Kim Tate (Claire King) had urged Joe to reconsider his decision to give his son up illegally for adoption, with the Home Farm owner haunted by reminders of giving her own daughter up in 1999, who has been identified as Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge). In a jaw-dropping twist, Kim is hiding a huge secret: she has Joe's baby son hidden away in a cottage, with Graham looking after him.
When Joe forced Graham to give the baby away, Graham vowed that it would be the last thing he'd ever do and that he'd leave the village too. As far as Joe is aware, Graham is long gone, and so is his baby son.
The Kidnapping and Fan Theories
Next week, Baby Tate is kidnapped from the cottage where Graham is currently caring for him. Graham alerts Kim about the disturbing development, putting her on high alert. As seen in the new trailer, the mystery kidnapper clearly has a sadistic streak as they taunt Graham by putting up photos around the cottage where he has been staying.
Meanwhile, Kim faces a Halloween horror when she's unsettled by strange noises at Home Farm. In a phone conversation with Graham, she warns: "The people who took Joe's child are in the house." Raging at her unknown tormentors, Kim then screams: "Just get out!" DS Thea Ramsden is also seen nearby, but fans are convinced she is not the kidnapper, and the culprit is Joe, who has taken his son in revenge for Graham and Kim lying to him.
Turning to Reddit, one person stated: "Joe will be the kidnapper", while a second stated: "As soon as I read that spoiler, I think it will be Joe as well, and it's not Thea." A third chimed in: "I'll bet Joe 'kidnapped' baby Tate because he found out what Graham and Kim did and felt he needed to teach them a lesson as not to interfere with his decisions."
On X, another added: "Why do I feel like the kidnapper is going to turn out to be Joe himself after he discovers Graham and Kim's plan?"
Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX.
