Emmerdale fans are convinced that Tom King's imminent return to the village could set up a dramatic whodunnit storyline, with some speculating that the villainous character may meet his end.
Tom (James Chase) began a relationship with Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) in 2023, and the couple quickly fell for one another. However, Belle soon became the victim of domestic abuse at Tom's hands.
Having successfully deceived the entire village, Tom subjected Belle to more than a year of gaslighting and both physical and emotional abuse. He even falsely claimed their dog Piper had died as part of his psychological manipulation. Belle's ordeal finally ended when Tom was convicted of assault and controlling and coercive behaviour, receiving a three-year prison sentence.
Tom's Release and Belle's Dilemma
It has now been revealed that Tom is due to be freed from prison imminently. Vicar Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) informed Belle that Tom is a changed man, having learnt of this through his prison chaplaincy work, according to the Daily Star.
Belle was left distressed by the news and was told that Tom wishes to meet with her before his release. Despite initially being reluctant to have any interaction with him, Belle later reconsidered and honestly told her partner Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah) that she did want to see him.
However, in Tuesday's episode (October 20), following a conversation with Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) - who suffered abuse from past villager Pierce Harris (Jonathan Wrathe) - Belle decided against meeting him.
Fans Speculate on a Whodunnit
Fans are now convinced the soap could be gearing up for another gripping whodunnit storyline centred around Tom. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one viewer declared: "Tom King is going to come back with vengeance but it will probably result in his death."
Another chimed in: "Another whodunnit most likely." A third fan simply responded: "I agree." When it came to speculating who could be responsible for Tom's potential demise, one fan put forward Kammy as the prime suspect.
They wrote: "I'd like it to be Kammy! Give him a meaty storyline." A fifth viewer concurred: "Same Here I really like Kammy."
Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 8:00pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
