Emmerdale Fans Predict Ryan Stocks Exit After Charity's Words

Emmerdale fans are convinced that Ryan Stocks' departure from the village is inevitable after his mother Charity Dingle made a devastating remark during Tuesday's episode. The ITV soap has been exploring Charity's trauma following a sexual assault by Dr Todd, but viewers were left furious when she lashed out at Ryan, telling him: "You were born."

Charity's Struggle and Blackmail Ordeal

Charity Dingle, played by Emma Atkins, has been keeping the true parentage of baby Leyla a secret from the village. Evil Dr Todd, portrayed by Caroline Harker, discovered the truth and began blackmailing her. The ordeal escalated last month when Dr Todd sexually assaulted Charity in harrowing scenes before leaving for a new job in Sheffield.

Since the assault, Charity has been struggling to cope, with her family believing she has postnatal depression. She eventually confided in her husband Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) and received support from newcomer Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy). However, her pent-up frustration boiled over when she directed her anger at Ryan, played by James Moore.

The Shocking Confrontation

During Tuesday's episode on June 30, Ryan confronted his mother, asking: "Why are you acting like I hurt you? What did I do?" Charity's blunt response — "You were born" — left viewers stunned. Ryan was born after DI Mark Bails raped Charity during her teenage years, making the comment particularly painful.

In Wednesday's episode, now streaming on ITVX, Charity expressed her regret to Serena, saying: "I don't deserve slack. Let's face it, I've been a total cow to him, and I've been pushing him away... [I've been] blaming him for something that happened before he even existed." She added: "Ever since that woman did what she did, I can't bring myself to be anywhere near him. I can't even look him in the eye." Charity later apologised to Ryan but did not reveal the true reason for her behaviour.

Fan Reactions and Exit Predictions

Soap fans were unimpressed with Charity's treatment of Ryan, with many predicting his exit. One Reddit user wrote: "I hope he leaves soon for his own sake, it's a disgrace how Charity treats him and he deserves better." Another commented: "It was absolutely horrifying when she said he'd done wrong by 'being born'. Regardless of her current trauma, there's absolutely no excuse for treating someone like that."

A third fan said: "She has been abhorrent to him lately, wouldn't blame Ryan if he chose to leave the village tbh," while another added: "That was vile of Charity, Ryan didn't deserve that. Totally uncalled for." Some viewers offered explanations, with one noting: "I think Charity is being awful to Ryan because he reminds her of how he was conceived. It's not an excuse, just an explanation." Others sympathised with Charity, with one saying: "Charity is really struggling. I wish she would tell Chas, she needs someone to help her," and another declaring: "Justice for Charity."
