Emmerdale Casts Former Coronation Street Star as New Villain

Emmerdale has announced the arrival of a new villain, played by former Coronation Street and Waterloo Road actor Jason Done. The 53-year-old actor, known for roles in Brassic, The Bill, and Death in Paradise, will portray a character named Steve, according to ITV.

Major Coup for Emmerdale

Insiders describe the casting as a 'major coup' for the ITV soap, following the success of other soap stars joining the cast. A source told The Sun: 'This is a huge coup for Emmerdale. They've had massive success with other soap's stars joining the cast and the hope is that Jason will be another hit.' The source also hinted that Done's character has a surprising connection to one of the village residents.

Jason Done's Soap History

Done first appeared on Coronation Street in the 1990s as PC Bathurst and also featured in The Bill in 1996. However, he is best known for his long-running role as teacher Tom Clarkson in Waterloo Road. His recent credits include a guest role in Death in Paradise.

Bradley Riches Fakes Surprise Over Co-Star's Return

Meanwhile, actor Bradley Riches, who plays a role on Emmerdale, revealed he had to fake shock when producers announced the return of his colleague Chris Coghill as Kev Townsend. Riches, 24, admitted he was secretly informed by Coghill in February about his potential return, months before the official announcement. Speaking to the Mirror, Riches said: 'Obviously he did the little stint last year, didn't he? It came out September to December, and then he secretly messaged me in February, and he was like, "I think I might be coming back... don't obviously tell anyone." I was like, "no, I'll keep it to myself."'

Riches, who recently married Scott Johnston in April, praised Coghill as a mentor on set, stating: 'That man, he's one of those people who, you watch him do scenes and stuff like that, and he is a guy who just goes with instincts as an actor.'
