Emmerdale is set for a dramatic abduction as Baby Tate vanishes from the cottage, and viewers are already convinced they know who took the infant.
Following the sudden death of Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley), her surviving husband-to-be Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) had chosen to place their unnamed baby son up for adoption. He recruited his childhood guardian Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) to arrange an illegal adoption. Kim Tate (Claire King) had pressed Joe to reconsider his decision, tormented by memories of surrendering her own daughter in 1999, who has since been revealed to be Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge).
Kim's secret revealed
In a startling development, Kim is concealing an enormous secret: she has Joe's infant son tucked away in a cottage, with Graham caring for him. When Joe compelled Graham to surrender the baby, Graham pledged that it would be the final act he'd perform and that he'd depart the village too. As far as Joe understands, Graham has departed, along with his infant son.
Thea has also disclosed a revenge scheme against her biological mother after being relinquished as an infant. Given all of the turmoil surrounding the Tates, Emmerdale is about to become considerably more dramatic.
Abduction next week
Next week, Baby Tate is abducted from the cottage where Graham is presently caring for him. Graham notifies Kim about the alarming development, placing her on high alert, reports the Daily Star.
As revealed in the latest trailer, the mysterious kidnapper displays a distinctly sinister side, taunting Graham by plastering photographs around the cottage where he has been residing.
Fans suspect Joe
Meanwhile, Kim endures a Halloween nightmare when she is disturbed by unexplained sounds at Home Farm. During a telephone conversation with Graham, she warns: "The people who took Joe's child are in the house."
Furious at her unknown tormentors, Kim then screams: "Just get out!" as DS Thea Ramsden is also spotted in the vicinity, yet viewers are firmly convinced she is not behind the abduction, with many believing Joe himself has taken his son in retaliation for Graham and Kim's deception.
Taking to Reddit, one user declared: "Joe will be the kidnapper", while another agreed: "As soon as I read that spoiler, I think it will be Joe as well, and it's not Thea."
A third chimed in: "I'll bet Joe 'kidnapped' baby Tate because he found out what Graham and Kim did and felt he needed to teach them a lesson as not to interfere with his decisions."
On X, a further user posted: "Why do I feel like the kidnapper is going to turn out to be Joe himself after he discovers Graham and Kim's plan?"
Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX.
