Soap fans have experienced disrupted schedules for Emmerdale and Coronation Street this week, as football coverage takes over ITV1. The soaps are not airing in their usual time slots or on their normal days. EastEnders is also affected by a schedule shake-up, though it continues to air on its regular days.
When Are the Soaps Airing?
EastEnders fans can still watch the show on Wednesday and Thursday, but at a later time on BBC One. Episodes will air for 30 minutes at 8:30 PM instead of the usual 7:30 PM.
For Coronation Street and Emmerdale, the next episodes will not air until Friday, June 19. On that day, both soaps will return to their usual time slots. Emmerdale will air at 8 PM on ITV1, followed by Coronation Street at 8:30 PM on the same channel. Episodes will also be available to stream on ITVX from that morning.
There will be no ITVX episodes to stream on Wednesday or Thursday, as no new episodes air on those days.
What to Expect in Friday's Episodes
Friday's episodes promise dramatic moments. On Coronation Street, Debbie Webster is trapped in a nightmare following the gun drama at the garage. She clashes with Tracy Barlow, and an incident with a balloon leaves her terrified as she mistakes the noise for a gunshot. Betsy Swain has news for Lisa and Carla that could hint at an exit.
Sam Blakeman's family rallies around him as he asks to see Roy Cropper. Maria Connor grows suspicious of Gary Windass when he reveals he has booked a holiday for the whole family, still assuming he and Sarah Platt are having an affair. Meanwhile, Kit admires the engagement ring he has bought for Sarah.
On Emmerdale, Lewis Barton gets kidnapped after preparing for a holiday with his love interest Vinny Dingle. As Lewis packs a suitcase and heads to the airport, a van pulls up and masked men take him. Next week, viewers will discover who is holding him hostage, as part of Kev Townsend's return storyline.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8 PM on ITV1 and ITVX. Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30 PM on ITV1 and ITVX.
