Emma Watson Reveals Harry Potter Childhood Left Her 'Terrified'

Emma Watson has opened up about the difficulties of growing up in the spotlight as a child star in the Harry Potter films. The actress, who played Hermione Granger from the age of 10, admitted she was 'terrified' by the intense public interest in her life.

In an interview with Porter magazine, the 25-year-old said she struggled with self-doubt and envied friends who could lead normal teenage lives. 'The level of questioning I was under, coming at such a young age... I felt so inadequate because I just didn't have answers yet,' she explained.

Watson also spoke about the challenge of spending more than half her life pretending to be someone else. While her peers were discovering their identities, she was focused on portraying Hermione. The star credits her decision to study at Brown University in the US with helping her find herself.
