Channel 5's acclaimed detective series 'Ellis', starring Sharon D Clarke as DCI Ellis, is set to return for a second series on March 10 and 11 at 9pm. The show, which has been dubbed 'better than Vera' by fans, has released its first trailer ahead of the premiere.
The crime drama follows DCI Ellis and her partner DS Harper, played by Andrew Gower, as they investigate new cases across towns in northern England. The first series aired in November 2024 and was a huge success.
The synopsis for series two teases new challenges: 'Fresh from her victories in series one, DCI Ellis is once again parachuted into failing cases across the north of England. With Harper at her side, she faces a new wave of fractured communities and suspicious deaths that test not only her forensic brilliance but her resilience.'
The trailer opens with DCI Ellis stating, 'How to kill a man and get away with it,' and later adds, 'This is a murder investigation, and I am going to do whatever it takes to solve it.' Fans have expressed excitement on social media, with one calling it the 'best show since Vera' and praising its unpredictable twists.
