Eight new free TV channels are set to launch in UK homes before the end of the year, bringing classic British shows such as Top Gear, EastEnders and Holby City to viewers. The ad-supported services will initially be available only through Freely and LG Channels, meaning households relying on Freeview, Sky or Virgin Media will not be able to tune in for now.
Full line-up of new channels
The new services will give viewers access to a wide collection of classic British television, including hit shows such as Top Gear, EastEnders and Holby City. All eight channels are supported by advertising, allowing viewers to enjoy the extra content without subscription fees.

Platforms and launch plans
Freely, which launched in 2024, allows viewers to watch live free-to-air television over an internet connection rather than relying on a traditional aerial. The platform is expected to play an increasingly important role in how British households watch free television, and this latest addition could make it an even more attractive option. Meanwhile, LG Channels is available through an app on compatible internet-connected LG smart TVs.
UKTV says the new services will launch before the end of the year, giving audiences the chance to revisit some of British television's most memorable moments and much-loved characters. Highlights will include the infamous 'Stax' storyline from EastEnders, classic Antiques Roadshow episodes featuring Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh, and fan-favourite Top Gear specials, including the Patagonia and Polar adventures.
Reaction from UKTV
Jonathan Newman, Chief Commercial Officer at UKTV and BBC Studios UK Region, said: "The launch of these channels is an exciting moment for UKTV, helping us reach new audiences, unlock advertising revenue and grow our streaming presence through harnessing the power of great British television. We're delighted to be launching with LG Channels and Freely for the first time."
The eight channels will begin rolling out across Freely and LG Channels before the end of the year, with further platform agreements under discussion.
