EastEnders' teenage incel Joel Marshall (Max Murray) returns to Walford after his release from prison, sparking fury among the teens of Albert Square. Next week, their revenge plot against him goes horribly wrong when the police are called.
Joel's return sparks outrage
Joel's stepmum Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) is horrified to see the boy who violently attacked her, while the teens are still reeling from his sex crimes against their friend Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James). The group is determined to drive him out of Walford.
After Joel's estranged mum Cleo abandons him on dad Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) again, Ross tries to secure Joel a place at the local sixth form. But when Avani, Nugget Gulati (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) and Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) see him at school, Joel faces their anger.
A brief olive branch
Joel books a one-way train ticket after realising no-one wants him around. However, Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) offers an olive branch when she spots him helping Janet Mitchell (Grace). As he waits for his train, Joel opens up to her about his struggles in the young offenders facility, but the moment is interrupted by Jean Slater (Gillian Wright), Amy and Avani.
Ross finds Joel at the tube station and pleads for him to stay. Joel agrees, but when Amy and Avani learn he's not leaving, they concoct a plan. They ask him to join them at the park for end-of-school-year celebrations, making him believe they are trying to build bridges.
The revenge plot backfires
When Joel arrives at the park, Avani, Lily, Amy, Nugget, Denzel Danes (Jaden Luke Ladega), Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman) and Ricky Branning (Frankie Day) unleash their revenge. They lock Joel to a fence and soak him in beer while filming his humiliation.
While the teens revel in their prank, local copper Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) receives a call from the station revealing that Joel has been attacked. It becomes clear that the prank has not gone to plan, leaving the teens to decide whether to cover their tracks or face the consequences.
