EastEnders Star Describes 'Nightmare' as Joel Marshall's Attack on Vicki Fowler Unfolds

EastEnders actor Alex Walkinshaw has spoken out about the 'nightmare scenario' facing his character Ross Marshall after discovering his son Joel attacked Vicki Fowler. In scenes aired on Monday, October 13, Joel was arrested following the assault, which left Vicki with a collapsed lung and broken arm.

The attack occurred after Joel, played by Max Murray, was disciplined by Vicki for showing an explicit video at school and hitting Amy Mitchell. Joel punched Vicki to the floor, filmed her, and mocked her. He then hid in Tommy Moon's garage while Vicki underwent surgery.

Ross, initially in denial, was 'totally sickened' when he saw the video of Vicki on the floor. He eventually called the police, leading to Joel's arrest. Walkinshaw told Digital Spy: 'He is absolutely heartbroken and totally sickened. The woman he loves is in hospital and the person he loves the most in the world could be responsible. It's a nightmare scenario.'

The actor admitted Ross had been 'really naive' about Joel's behaviour, blaming social media algorithms for influencing his son. 'He's been giving Joel the benefit of the doubt... but now it's reached a point where Ross is worried sick,' Walkinshaw said.
