EastEnders viewers were left baffled after last night's flashforward episode introduced a mysterious new character. The unidentified man was seen standing among the Brannings as Max Branning was arrested, sparking widespread speculation about his identity.
The episode jumped forward a year and showed Max waking up next to an unknown pregnant woman before preparing to marry one of four potential brides: Cindy Beale, Linda Carter, Chelsea Fox, or Denise Fox. However, his wedding plans were interrupted when armed police raided his flat, forcing him to flee to daughter Lauren's house for help.
As police arrested Max, the mystery man, wearing a khaki green jacket and black shirt, approached the family and asked, "What's happened, though? What's he done?" The credits only listed him as 'man', with actor Stephen Aaron-Sipple playing the role.
Fans took to social media to question the stranger's identity, with one writing, "Hello there! Identify yourself please #EastEnders." Another asked, "Who the f**k is he? Other than ABSOLUTELY the man Lauren is having an affair with..."
Executive producer Ben Wadey was asked about the character in a Q&A session and gave a cryptic seven-word clue: "You will find out who he is." The tease has only heightened curiosity ahead of the character's eventual reveal.
