EastEnders is set for explosive scenes this week as Max Branning (Jake Wood), Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) and Lee Carter (Danny Hatchard) find themselves at the centre of a massive revelation that leaves the community reeling. Lee's return to Walford earlier this year already shocked viewers when it was revealed that his sister Nancy Carter (Maddy Hill) is carrying his baby, acting as a surrogate for Lee and his partner Jess. However, things have gone awry due to Lee not actually being in contact with her.
Jess exposes Lee's lies
Coming up, Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and Lee arrive back home after looking for Jess, only to discover that she's waiting for them at Peacock Palace. Quickly, viewers get a feel for the sort of person Jess is as she exposes all of Lee's lies right in front of his family. Lee does his best to try and repair things with Nancy, but she refuses to give up parental responsibility for the baby. As the Carters absorb Jess's revelations, Linda remains determined to help her son turn things around.
Max and Cindy's confrontation
Towards the end of the week, focus for the residents turns to sharing memories of Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) following her death. In the pub, Max arrives looking for Lee but instead, he's faced with an angry Cindy. As they argue, Lee eventually arrives. A revelation follows shortly after these scenes – but what will it be?
Actor teases more drama
Teasing the drama that lies ahead of the next couple of weeks, star Danny Hatchard told us: 'Lee and Nancy's return came as a huge shock for the Carters, and it's safe to say there's plenty more drama to come. When Lee and Linda return to Walford this week, they find Jess waiting for them, who has a few bombshells of her own to drop.'
'Her arrival sparks another wave of drama for both the Carters and the wider Square.' Speaking about his return to the show, the actor said: 'I'd always wanted to go out there and try other opportunities within my career, but I also hoped there'd be an opportunity to return because of how much I love both the character and EastEnders.'
'Being able to return at different points throughout the show's history and the characters life has been brilliant. In many ways, it's been lifesaving and has reinforced my love for this line of work. Coming back always reminds me why I love acting.'
Nancy and Lee have returned to the show in the lead-up to on-screen mum Kellie Bright's forthcoming departure. The actress announced earlier this year that she would be leaving her role as former Queen Vic landlady Linda Carter after 13 years.
