EastEnders: Kat and Cindy clash amid Zoe guilt

The Slaters in EastEnders are still reeling from the tragic and unexpected death of Zoe last month, and tensions are rising as her funeral approaches. Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) has been grappling with her grief, lashing out at those around her, while the rest of the family deals with their own troubles.

Viewers will remember that Zoe suffered a head injury during a dispute with the man selling Charlie Slater's cab, which later resulted in her death. It recently emerged that Max Branning (Jake Wood) was the last person to see Zoe alive. Sensing something was wrong, she begged him to stay, but believing she was drunk, he left her alone.

Kat's search for answers

After learning that Zoe had made a desperate 999 call before her death, during which she could be heard saying 'he left me', Kat has been on a mission to find out who left Zoe in her time of need. Her quest for answers has only intensified her grief and anger.

As the family prepares for the funeral, panic sets in when they discover a mistake in the order of service. Jean (Gillian Wright) and Mo Harris (Laila Morse) join Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) in a mission to correct it before Kat finds out.

Jasmine steps in

Meanwhile, Jasmine Fisher (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness) struggles with her eulogy and turns to Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) for help. The next day, Jasmine steps in to assist Jean when a customer at The Albert causes trouble, sparking a conversation among the Slaters comparing Jasmine to Zoe.

Later, still wracked with grief, Kat lashes out at another customer outside The Albert alongside Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins). After the incident, Kat opens up to Cindy about Zoe's funeral and discusses the person she believes left Zoe for dead, leaving Cindy guilt-ridden.

The funeral

When Kat arrives at the funeral, she demands proceedings continue before any more time is wasted. During the intimate ceremony, Jasmine and Josh Goodwin (Joshua Vaughan) deliver their heartfelt eulogy before Kat pays an emotional tribute to her daughter.
