EastEnders: Craig targets Amy's inheritance in dark twist

Craig Ingram (Matthew James Bailey) has manipulated Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) into taking the blame for leaking intimate photos of Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega) in EastEnders, and has now set his sights on her money.

The former detective, who was fired from the police force after a series of complaints, has been grooming teenager Amy, who remains unaware of the danger he poses. Earlier this week, Craig leaked photographs of Denzel to his family, despite already having extorted a grand in cash from him.

Amy takes the blame

Amy was appalled by Craig's actions, and with Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) now aware of Denzel's ordeal, she feared it was only a matter of time before Craig was exposed. In a bid to avoid implication, Craig suggested Amy take the blame for the photographs, knowing Jack would protect her.

Initially horrified, Amy was ultimately manipulated into confessing, with Craig claiming he would need to flee if she did not comply. Not wanting that, Amy devastatingly admitted to leaking the pics, leaving Jack and Denzel appalled at the cruelty.

Craig's interest in Amy's inheritance

Despite her efforts, Craig claimed he would still need to leave Walford and made steps to go – until Amy mentioned her inheritance. Intrigued, he listened as Amy said she would find a way to access it early so they could run away together.

In Wednesday's episode, Amy is on a mission to access her money early. The question is whether she will succeed, and whether Craig will get his hands on it – or whether Jack, already suspicious of his daughter's changed behaviour, will uncover the truth.

Elsewhere, Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) reveals what she found on Max's (Jake Wood) laptop and urges Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) not to trust her dad. While viewing No. 31, Max is confronted by Cindy and Lauren, who reveal details about his New Zealand property, undermining his attempt to buy the local house. Max declares war on Cindy in retaliation.

Other Walford developments

Later, Cindy learns of Kat's (Jessie Wallace) revenge plan against the man who left Zoe, while Max asks for Oscar's help in proving his marriage to Cindy was never consummated. Drinks later flow between Oscar and Cindy.

Elsewhere, Lauren spends time with Mark Fowler Jr (Stephen Aaron-Sipple), who pulls away after spotting Ned (Jamie Bamber) and Ryder (Felix Uff), with guilt from last week's actions weighing heavily on him.

EastEnders airs these scenes on Wednesday October 21 at 7:30pm on BBC One, or streams from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
