EastEnders aired a half-Christmas celebration on June 25, 2026, as Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) decorated No. 1 and toasted festive cheer with her family. The tradition, established last year, comes amid a year of change for the clan: Teddy (Roland Manookian) is in prison, Barney (Lewis Bridgeman) discovered Teddy is not his biological father, and Nicola has embarked on a romance with George Knight (Colin Salmon).
Blackmail Threatens Adoption Dream
While the Knight/Mitchell clan celebrated, Suki and Eve Panesar-Unwin (Balvinder Sopal and Heather Peace) faced a crisis. Eve had hit Nicola earlier in the week after Nicola berated Suki's parenting skills. Nicola retaliated by revealing the violence was captured on CCTV and blackmailed Suki for £50,000. The blackmail came just one day after the couple were approved by an adoption panel.
Suki agreed to Nicola's demands to protect their adoption dream. However, Harry (Elijah Hollway) discovered Nicola's scheme and berated her, reminding her she should raise money through better methods after her role in bringing Eddie Knight back into George's life.
Nicola's Change of Heart?
The telling off gave Nicola food for thought. She returned to Suki and Eve's home, telling them she doesn't want their money. But before the couple could celebrate, Nicola revealed she will keep the CCTV footage as insurance for future use. The storyline leaves Suki and Eve trapped in Nicola's web, uncertain whether she will delete the footage or continue to hold it over them.
EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One or streams from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
