EastEnders viewers have cast doubt on whether Anthony Trueman is truly Zoe Slater's stalker, with many suggesting the storyline is 'too obvious'. The character, played by Nicholas Bailey, returned to Albert Square in August and has since been pursuing his ex-girlfriend Zoe, played by Michelle Ryan.
In recent episodes, Anthony was seen with a slideshow of photos of Zoe on his computer, and a sinister Christmas card left for Zoe read: 'This isn’t over yet.' However, fans on social media have expressed scepticism, arguing that Anthony's behaviour, while creepy, may not point to him being the stalker.
One viewer, @SarahStuart89, wrote on X: 'I dont think Anthony is Zoes stalker. Its too obvious. Hes acting weird & creepy though & his behaviour towards Zoe is unacceptable. Hes hiding something & his wifes also trying to take his kids away from him. Hes acting OOC. He was never evil. I think hes spiralling.'
Another fan, @Charlotte_K13, posted: 'Anthony being Zoes stalker feels far too obvious. I dont think he's doin all the texts/calls & graffiti, I think he's just becomin a bit obsessed with her romantically. They have made him creepy with no explanation. Not sure who thr stalker is, but I half suspect Lily.'
Meanwhile, Nicholas Bailey is set to appear in the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special, partnering with professional dancer Luba Mushtuk. He will compete against other celebrities including Gogglebox's Scarlett Moffatt and former Westlife singer Brian McFadden.
