EastEnders' Amy takes fall for Craig's blackmail as fans fear worse
EastEnders' Amy takes fall for Craig's blackmail

Amy Mitchell has been manipulated into taking the blame for Craig Ingram's blackmail of Denzel Danes in EastEnders, but viewers believe the situation will only worsen for the character.

In scenes aired this week, Craig (Matthew James-Bailey) convinced Amy (Ellie Dadd) to confess to a crime he committed. Last week, a jealous Craig pretended to be Amy on her phone and persuaded Denzel (Jaden Ladega) to send a nude picture of himself. He then blackmailed Denzel, demanding £1000 or he would send the image to Denzel's family.

Amy's confession and Craig's threat

Denzel paid the money, but Craig still sent the picture to his family. Denzel told them his phone had been stolen and scammers had asked for the cash. When Amy revealed that her father Jack (Scott Maslen) was investigating the messages, Craig told her she had to take the fall, threatening to leave her if she refused. Terrified and isolated, Amy confessed to Denzel, claiming his reaction to her scars had prompted her actions.

Despite her confession, Craig still planned to leave. Desperate to keep him, Amy mentioned her trust fund, which she says she will access when she turns 18. Fans are now convinced the situation will deteriorate further.

Fan fears and Jack's reaction

One viewer said: "I'm worried Amy will lose her money." Another agreed that "the worst is yet to come" for the character. A third suggested Jack's anger would "just going to push Amy further into Craig's arms".

Another fan predicted that when Amy's former stepdad Sean Slater (Rob Kazinsky) returns next week, Amy will have already gone missing: "I think he's back next week, something about an unexpected arrival on the Square, connected with Jack. Amy runs away so I suspect Sean might help find her."

Sean's return and Amy's disappearance

Leaked spoilers indicate Amy will soon run away with Craig, just as Jack discovers the truth. Jack organises a search party with police help, keeping the news from his wife Denise (Diane Parish) amid her cancer battle.

Jack and his brother Max (Jake Wood) break into Craig's flat, increasingly convinced he is responsible for Amy's behaviour. Sean's return was announced earlier this year, with a statement noting: "Sean returns later this year, and if his previous stints are anything to go by, it's only a matter of time before Sean will find himself embroiled in drama."

Rob Kazinsky said he is happy to be back: "I left EastEnders in 2008 as a 23-year-old boy and was lucky to spend the next 19 years of my life working around the world. Always championing EastEnders and stating the fact that one day I wanted to walk in Sean's Shoes again. But this time as a man to see who Sean the man might also be. I wanted to do it for Sean, I wanted to do it for the fans that have supported me in every role since I left the Square but, mostly, I wanted to do it for me. I'm home, and I can't wait to bring a new level of heartfelt chaos to Albert Square in the way only Sean Slater can."
