Eamonn Holmes Absent from GB News After On-Air Slurring Concerns

Eamonn Holmes has been absent from his GB News breakfast programme since last Wednesday, March 11, following an incident where he appeared to slur his words and nod off live on air. The presenter, who typically hosts the show with Ellie Costello from Monday to Wednesday, has not been seen on the programme since the incident sparked viewer concern.

During his final broadcast, Holmes was interviewing Chief Secretary to the Treasury Darren Jones MP when he appeared to doze off. He was seen adjusting his microphone before closing his eyes briefly, then raising his head and focusing on the microphone again. Viewers took to social media to express worry, with one saying: 'Please help Eamonn Holmes. He's obviously struggling, falling asleep this morning. Slurring his words. The guy needs medical assistance!'

Holmes has been dealing with chronic pain for years, recently revealing he has a dislocated pelvis and three slipped discs. He requires carers to help him out of his wheelchair and underwent surgery, but fell down the stairs during recovery, fracturing his shoulder. Speaking on the Session 7 podcast, he said: 'I'm sick. I'm in a wheelchair. That's been horrendous to deal with for two years.'

A GB News spokesperson confirmed Holmes is on annual leave, stating: 'There’s no mystery. He’s on annual leave and enjoying celebrating St Patrick’s Day with friends.' The presenter has not commented on the on-air incident or his absence.
