Downton Abbey Leads TVChoice Awards Nominations with Three Nods

Downton Abbey has taken the lead in this year's TVChoice Awards nominations, securing three nods including Best Drama Series, Best Actor for Allen Leech, and Best Actress for Joanne Froggatt.

BBC One's Happy Valley is also a strong contender, nominated for Best New Drama and Best Actress for Sarah Lancashire's portrayal of police sergeant Sarah Cawood. Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch is up for Best Actor once again, with the show also nominated for Best Drama.

In the soap category, Coronation Street's tear-jerking death of Hayley Cropper goes head-to-head with EastEnders' murder of Lucy Beale for Best Soap Storyline. Julie Hesmondhalgh, who played Hayley, is favourite for Best Soap Actress but faces competition from Lindsey Coulson and Michelle Keegan.
