Harry Hadden-Paton, who plays Herbert 'Bertie' Pelham, 7th Marquess of Hexham in Downton Abbey, has confirmed his return for the third film and shared an exciting update. Speaking at the London premiere of Twisters, the 43-year-old actor told HELLO! magazine that filming is going smoothly, saying: 'It's going very well, no major dramas.'

Hadden-Paton hinted at a grander scale for the upcoming movie, stating: 'We all know what we're doing by now. I would say it's bigger and better than before. The set pieces are massive.' He also revealed the use of new technology, adding: 'There's a drone in almost every new scene and an amazing new cast as well. Some really exciting new people.'

The actor expressed delight at reuniting with his co-stars, describing it as 'like slipping into an old pair of slippers.' He added: 'Everyone knows everyone so well. We've all been through quite a bit together so there are no surprises. It's easy and we're all very grateful for it. It's a joy to have a chance to get together again.'

Production on the third Downton Abbey film officially began in May, as announced on the franchise's Instagram account with a video of the cast at a table read. Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary Crawley, said: 'It feels amazing and emotional. It's wonderful, all to be back together again. We come back together and it feels like no time has passed at all.'

The script, penned by Julian Fellowes, remains under wraps, but the story will pick up after the death of the Dowager Countess, Lady Violet (Maggie Smith), with Lady Mary now in charge. Directed by Simon Curtis, who also helmed 2022's Downton Abbey: A New Era, the film is set for release on September 12, 2025.
