Dominic Cooper's Love Life: Co-Star Ex to Model Girlfriend

Dominic Cooper returns to television this weekend in the ITV drama Adultery, a twisty new series about a group of parents caught in a web of lies and romance.

The 48-year-old London-born actor, known for films including Mamma Mia! and Captain America, plays Tom Kirkman. He begins an adulterous relationship with Beth Brookes, played by Romola Garai, a situation made more complicated by the fact that their teenage children are dating each other.

The drama launches on ITV on Sunday, October 25, and is written by Danny Brocklehurst, who previously worked on Netflix's Fool Me Once.

A Grown-Up Drama About Family and Love

Brocklehurst has described the series as a "grown-up drama about family and love and marriage and people of a certain age." He has also confirmed it will tackle interconnected themes including class, grief and what it means to connect with someone in the age of social media.

In addition to his television and film work, Cooper has worked extensively on stage, including in the Royal National Theatre production of The History Boys.

Reunion with Famous Ex Amanda Seyfried

Cooper famously played Sky in the 2008 film Mamma Mia!, while Amanda Seyfried played his fiancee Sophie. The two went on to date in real life for a while before ending their relationship, though they later starred together in the follow-up a decade later.

Recently, they were reunited at the Hamptons International Film Festival in New York while promoting their respective new movies. The pair ran into each other "for the first time in a long time," as Seyfried described, and posed for a photo together, reported PEOPLE.

"Our lives are very different. We live in very different places and I just have nothing but good feelings about him," the actress told the website. "When you're with somebody for a long time when you're younger, it just kind of evolves into this familial, nice, soft kind of bond," she said.

Though the two haven't kept in close touch in recent years, she admitted "it's nice to see him. Also, I'm just grateful for him." She added: "He's hilarious. It's funny, relationships, friendships, they always evolve. It's just so crazy that as we get older, you just want to be kind if you can. Especially if you had a friendship like that, I think it's amazing, and I feel really lucky."

Long-Term Relationship with Gemma Chan

Cooper has been in a relationship with model Gemma Chan since 2018. Gemma previously dated comedian Jack Whitehall before meeting the actor.

In an interview with Harper's Bazaar in 2022, she praised her partner as "incredibly supportive" as she reflected on a rise in racism and violence against Asian communities during the pandemic.

"I think I'm so fortunate to be in a relationship where we can talk about anything," she told the magazine. "Dom was very understanding and empathetic. I was quite open about how I was feeling during that time, and he was just incredibly supportive."

"I definitely didn't feel I had to shoulder everything on my own. I'm really, really lucky."

Adultery airs on ITV1 on Sunday, October 25 at 9pm and on ITVX.
