Claire Sweeney made a glamorous red carpet appearance at the London premiere of The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical on Sunday evening, accompanied by her seven-year-old son Jaxon. The 53-year-old actress, who recently split from boxer Ricky Hatton, wore a sparkling white dress with a matching sheer cape and silver heels, while Jaxon donned a tuxedo with a bow tie.
Sweeney, best known for her role on Coronation Street, was seen laughing and joking with her son outside the Dominion Theatre. The pair shared affectionate moments, grinning and giggling together. Sweeney styled her blonde hair in a bouncy blow-dry and opted for a dramatic red lip.
Speaking publicly about the split for the first time, Sweeney told MailOnline: 'I'm great – we're still friends, we were friends, we dated and now we're friends again. It's all good!' The couple ended their eight-month relationship earlier this month, having dated in secret after meeting on ITV's Dancing On Ice and enjoying a holiday in Tenerife in May.
A source revealed that Sweeney and Hatton remain good friends with no fallout. 'They decided they're better off as pals and are no longer romantically together,' the source said. 'Their lifestyles are very different – while Claire is career-focused on Coronation Street, Ricky is more freewheeling.'
Sweeney and Hatton had known each other for 25 years before sparks flew. She previously spoke about their bond over humour and a shared love of the sitcom Only Fools and Horses. The pair were last pictured together on November 13 in Manchester at the musical version of that show.
