BBC viewers were quick to criticise the new reality show Destination X, which debuted on Wednesday evening, with many calling out a 'blunder' in the opening scenes. The programme, hosted by Rob Brydon, features 13 contestants on a European adventure where they must deduce their location using clues.
As the show began, scenes set in an airport lounge drew scepticism from viewers. One posted on social media: 'Blatantly a fake airport lounge #DestinationX'. Another questioned the realism, saying: 'Straight away I call shenanigans. No way British people will talk so quickly to strangers in an airport lounge.'
Despite the criticism, some viewers were captivated. One wrote: 'Giving #DestinationX ago enjoying it so far.' Another praised Brydon: 'Rob Brydon steals the show in everything he's in. Love him.'
The format sees contestants wear goggles that obscure their view during helicopter transfers, with brief moments of visibility. Three participants were eliminated before leaving the airport after failing a challenge to find items with specific names. The winner will take home £100,000.
