Ralf Little has left his role as Detective Inspector Neville Parker on the BBC's hit crime drama Death in Paradise after four years. The actor's final episode aired on Sunday, bringing an emotional conclusion to his character's storyline as he sailed off into the sunset with DS Florence Cassell, played by Josephine Jobert.
Little joined the Saint Marie police team in 2020, taking over from DI Jack Mooney. During his tenure, he became the longest-serving Detective Inspector on the show, featuring in 36 episodes and three feature-length festive specials, as well as a cameo in spin-off Beyond Paradise. His character overcame various challenges, including allergies, aversions to the sun, and an attempt to frame him for murder.
The series finale also saw the return of familiar faces such as Camille Bordey, JP Hooper, and Dwayne Myers, alongside guest stars including Academy Award winner Hayley Mills. The episode marked the end of a series filled with twists, including the shooting of Commissioner Selwyn Patterson and the departure of Officer Marlon Pryce.
Tim Key, Executive Producer for Red Planet Pictures, praised Little's contribution, stating: 'Joining a successful show like Death in Paradise as the lead is a daunting and risky prospect, but Ralf’s confidence and talent shone through from day one.' New lead casting for the show will be announced in due course.
Death in Paradise will return later this year for a fourth feature-length Christmas special, followed by a new series in 2025. The franchise is also expanding with an Australian spin-off, Return to Paradise, set to air in 2024.
