The BBC has announced the highly anticipated return of its mind-bending thriller The Capture, with filming for a third series now complete. The new instalment will see a familiar face from the sun-soaked shores of Death in Paradise stepping back into a world of high-stakes technological conspiracy.
Star-Studded Cast Reprises Roles
Ginny Holder, best known to audiences as Officer Darlene Curtis in the hit BBC series Death in Paradise, is confirmed to return as DI Nadia Latif. She will be joined once more by Paapa Essiedu as Isaac Turner and Holliday Grainger as the tenacious Rachel Carey.
A host of other key characters are also set to return, including Indira Varma as BBC News presenter Khadija Khan, Hugh Quarshie as Commissioner Cameron Yates, and Ron Perlman as CIA agent Frank Napier. Nigel Lindsay, Tessa Wong, Linus Roache, Ben Miles, and Lia Williams will all be back, with Daisy Waterstone returning as Abigail Carey.
New Faces and a Gripping Plot
The series welcomes several major new additions to its ensemble cast. Notably, Killian Scott, recognised for his role as Detective Rob Reilly in Dublin Murders, joins the fray. He will be alongside Jonathan Aris, Joe Dempsie, Andrew Buchan, and Amanda Drew.
The official synopsis sets the scene one year after the shocking events of series two. Rachel Carey is now Acting Commander of Counter Terrorism Command, championing a new surveillance system called Operation Veritas to rebuild public trust. However, her mission is violently disrupted by a sophisticated terrorist attack on the British establishment, which leaves a single witness.
The investigation pulls Carey into a dangerous geopolitical crisis that infects the political establishment, security services, and media. The central question remains: in an era of deepfakes, who can you trust, and who is really pulling the strings?
Where is Darlene from Death in Paradise?
Fans of Death in Paradise noted the absence of Ginny Holder's character, Darlene Curtis, from the show's recent Christmas special. While she did not appear in person on the island of Saint Marie, reports confirm the character was seen in a video call with Detective Mervin Wilson, played by Don Gilet.
The Capture series three is scheduled to launch on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in spring 2026, with exact transmission dates to be announced by the broadcaster.
