The BBC has confirmed that the third series of the hit drama The Capture will premiere on Sunday, 8 March at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The show returns nearly four years after its second season aired in August 2022.
Holliday Grainger reprises her role as Rachel Carey, alongside Paapa Essiedu as Isaac Turner, Indira Varma as Khadija Khan, Ben Miles as Danny Hart, Lia Williams as Gemma Garland, Ginny Holder as DI Nadia Latif, and Ron Perlman as CIA agent Frank Napier. Other returning cast members include Andy Nyman, Nigel Lindsay, Tessa Wong, and Daisy Waterstone.
The synopsis for the new series reveals that 12 months have passed since Carey broadcast a live deepfake of a government minister, exposing the UK intelligence service's clandestine video manipulation programme known as Correction. Now Acting Commander of Counter Terrorism Command, she is determined to restore public trust through the new Operation Veritas camera system. However, a brutal and well-coordinated act of terror strikes at the heart of the British establishment, leaving only one witness. As Carey investigates, she becomes entangled in a geopolitical crisis that infiltrates the political establishment, security services, and media.
New cast members for series three include Killian Scott, Joe Dempsie, Andrew Buchan, Hugh Quarshie, Amanda Drew, Linus Roache, and Jonathan Aris. The series has been highly acclaimed, with an IMDb rating of 8/10 and a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The first two series of The Capture are currently available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
