Fans of the Death In Paradise franchise have reason to celebrate, as filming for one of its popular spin-offs has officially wrapped. Actress Anna Samson, who stars as DS Mackenzie Clarke in Return to Paradise, announced on Instagram that production for the third season has concluded.
Anna Samson Shares Behind-the-Scenes Photos
Samson posted a collection of candid photos featuring herself and fellow cast members away from the set. In her caption, she wrote: "Shooting on Return to Paradise season 3 wrapped last week! This season's story is bigger and braver, and asks more of its characters than ever." She also congratulated the entire team, adding: "I adore each and every one of ya. We can't wait to share it with you…sometime down the line."
The actress humorously noted that she barely took any photos due to the demanding schedule: "There were so many murders and waistcoats to be getting on with…and I was constantly misplacing my phone."
Fan Reactions
Fans quickly flooded the comments section with excitement. One user said: "Amazing News!!! Really excited to see what happened next!" Another commented: "Cannot wait to see the masterpiece of season 3! Great photos of you all!" A third added: "Ah brilliant. Looking forward to this in the UK. Wish they'd do a crossover with either Beyond Paradise or Death in Paradise."
Critical Acclaim for Previous Seasons
The second season of Return to Paradise received high praise, with one IMDB fan calling it "better than Death in Paradise" and lauding Anna Samson's performance as "most impressive." Other fans rated the series ten out of ten, describing it as "unexpectedly excellent" and "full of charm."
Season 3 Plot Hints
Earlier this year, the BBC shared details about the upcoming season, hinting that Mackenzie will continue to grapple with the aftermath of the dramatic season two finale. Despite her determination to move forward, she struggles. The synopsis reads: "DS Mackenzie Clarke is back, fresh from having wrecked another of Glenn's weddings and determined never to follow her heart again. But ignoring her heart won't be easy."
The arrival of her mother Jillian (Kerry Armstrong) puts Mack's mettle to the test, and the new pathologist Leo (Jacob Collins-Levy) adds a layer of raffish charm. Meanwhile, Glenn has gone away to 'find himself,' presenting another puzzle for Mack to solve.
Seasons one and two of Return to Paradise are currently available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
