The series finale of Death in Paradise sees DI Mervin Wilson (Don Gilet) make a heartbreaking confession to his colleague DS Naomi Thomas (Shantol Jackson) after his niece Eloise (Avah Cotterell) makes an unexpected appearance.
In an exclusive clip shared by the BBC, Mervin admits he is not coping well, prompting Naomi to note that the situation has 'touched a nerve' given his strained relationship with his estranged brother Solomon Clarke (Daniel Ward). Mervin recently cut ties with Solomon following his arrest.
Despite Mervin's attempts to discourage her, Eloise makes it clear she has no intention of leaving. The synopsis for the episode reveals that the body of an eccentric monster hunter named Giles is recovered from the sea, with injuries oddly suggestive of the legendary creature he was chasing—the Lusca.
While the finale marks the end of the current series, fans can look forward to the return of Beyond Paradise, which airs an hour earlier on Friday 27 March at 8pm on BBC One. Kris Marshall reprises his role as DI Humphrey Goodman in the fourth series, which promises a blend of fact and folklore as the team investigates a novelist's predicted death, a Dark Morris celebration gone wrong, a stolen treasure map, and a vengeful mermaid sighting.
